During one of his fasts for peace, Mahatma Gandhi encountered a man who was deeply remorseful for killing a child of another faith during the communal riots. Gandhi offered him a profound piece of advice to find peace and redemption. He told the man to adopt a child of the same faith as the one he had killed and raise him as his own, but with the condition that he must raise the child in the faith of the child he had wronged (1).
